Now providing innovative treatments for disorders of the foot and ankle and sports medicine injuries of the knee

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Prevea Orthopedics and Sports Medicine welcomes Dr. Alan Shamrock, a dual fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the foot and ankle as well as sports medicine injuries of the knee.

“My goal for each of my patients is to get them back to doing the activities they love to do,” said Dr. Shamrock. “Whether that means helping professional athletes get back in the game or someone who loves pickup basketball games on the weekends, I offer my patients solutions to their foot, ankle and knee discomforts.”

Dr. Shamrock’s dual fellowship training in sports medicine and foot and ankle surgery is a unique accomplishment in the field of orthopedic surgery. This extensive level of orthopedic training and expertise is a rarity for a surgeon to possess, not only in Wisconsin but also across the entire U.S.

Offering comprehensive orthopedic, sports medicine and foot/ankle care, Dr. Shamrock focuses on both evaluation and treatment of a wide range of conditions. Some of his key services include management of sports and athletic injuries; acute muscle, bone, and joint injuries; as well as trauma and fractures. In addition to advanced orthopedic surgery options including arthroscopy and minimally invasive procedures, Dr. Shamrock also specializes in cartilage restoration and repair, and ligament and tendon repair and stabilization.

For foot and ankle concerns, his offerings include the treatment of athletic injuries; arthritis; fractures; deformities like flatfoot; high arches; bunions; and hammertoes. Dr. Shamrock also provides reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and total ankle replacement, tailored to optimize mobility and enhance the quality of life for each of his patients.

“While my passion lies in performing complex orthopedic surgeries, I know that’s not always the best solution for each of my patients,” said Dr. Shamrock. “Often times there are non-surgical treatment options to consider that can yield better results. That’s why I present each of my patients with all the options, starting with non-operative solutions to their pain, first.”

Dr. Shamrock graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Iowa Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. He completed his dual fellowship in Sports Medicine and Foot and Ankle Surgery from the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, N.Y.

“After my residency in orthopedic surgery, I was fortunate to be selected to undergo subspecialty training from some of the most highly skilled orthopedic surgeons in the U.S.,” said Dr. Shamrock. “There is a sense of pride knowing that I completed both of my fellowships at the number one ranked orthopedic hospital in the nation and I am proud to bring my expertise here to Green Bay.”

Dr. Shamrock cares for patients at Prevea Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center, 1726 Shawano Ave., and at the Prevea Surgery Center in Green Bay. To make an appointment, call (920) 272-3300.
