I became a doctor to help people and to contribute to society in a way I could find interesting for the rest of my life. I chose obstetrics and gynecology because of the great rewards and challenges that women’s health care provides. OB-GYN physicians are uniquely qualified to provide some degree of primary care, as well as prenatal care, deliver babies and perform many types of surgery.
I try to assist each woman in optimizing her health through education, encouragement, health maintenance screenings, etc. This involves many issues, which change to some degree as a young woman matures and ages.
Patients shouldn't be afraid to ask questions. I encourage them to bring in notes and have questions written down so they won't be forgotten. I've been trained to identify problems and then manage them through a variety of medical and surgical interventions. Of course, much of my time is spent working towards the goal of "a healthy mom and a healthy baby" at the end of a pregnancy.
Outside of my medical practice, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two children, Stephen and Anna. I also enjoy camping, fishing, watching movies, reading and listening to music.
