GREEN BAY, Wis. – Each year, typically starting in fall, highly contagious respiratory illnesses including influenza (flu) and COVID-19 begin to circulate. While some may only experience mild illness with these viruses, they can have a severe impact on others including serious illness and even death.

Vaccination is critical in preventing the spread of these viruses and can help minimize symptoms experienced by those who are vaccinated but still become infected. Recently, U.S. regulators approved updated COVID-19 vaccines designed to target recent virus strains more closely.

COVID-19 vaccine: Everyone 6 months and older is now eligible and recommended to receive the updated, 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine. This includes people who have received a COVID-19 vaccine before and people who have had COVID-19.

Flu vaccine: Everyone 6 months and older is eligible and recommended to receive a flu vaccine. This is especially important for those at highest risk of experiencing severe symptoms, including older people, people with chronic health conditions, people who are pregnant, and young children.

Appointments for the updated, 2024-2025 COVID-19 and flu vaccinations can be made at Prevea Health locations across Northeast Wisconsin by calling (888) 277-3832 or through the MyPrevea patient portal at myprevea.com or the MyPrevea app.
